Sonisk is a music film festival put on by a group of friends with a great interest in movies. This year is the festival's first year and we are very excited.
All movies are in English, so do not worry about not having perfected your Norwegian yet!
We at The List took a look at the programme, and in collaboration with the guys at Sonisk we have three recommendations for you (if you don’t just wanna buy a festival pass and see everything.)
But if you wanna take a look at it yourself, the full programme is here: https://cinemateket-trondheim.no/sonisk/
1. Anonymous club
(1 hour 23 minutes, Saturday 29.10 at 18:00)
The antithesis of a rock biography. The film paints a raw and intimate picture of enigmatic singer-songwriter, Courtney Barnett. A very relevant movie in this day and age with the increased focus on mental health in the music industry.
2. Other Music Documentary
(1 hour 23 minutes, Saturday 29.10 at 20:30)
A celebration of Other Music, a record store on East 4th Street between Broadway and Lafayette in Manhattan’s East Village. Other Music was so much more than a music store; it was a hub for the new music scene, where bands were formed and groundbreaking music discovered. A perfect movie to watch after the record fair that will take place at Crispin Glover Record Shop at Olavshallen on Saturday.
3. Cobain: Montage of Heck
(2 hours 12 minutes, Saturday 29.10 at 11:00)
A journey through the tragedy and the genius of Kurt Cobain of Nirvana. The movie is narrated in an honest and believable way, which makes it brutal and at certain points a hard movie to watch. Do not go to watch this movie without being prepared for a tough and impactful journey.
