About the Event

Olavsfest is an annual festival that takes place every summer in the city centre. The festival’s namesake, St. Olav, is buried in Nidaros Cathedral, which is next to the festival grounds and can be visited during the festival through various tours. Olavsfest is an international and multicultural festival that has offerings for everyone, and the theme this summer is ‘tillit’, which translates directly to ‘trust’.

This year’s music lineup is incredible, with an amazing cornucopia of talent taking to the stage – such as Susanne Sundfør, Metteson, Jarle Bernhoft, and SKRUK with Frode Fjellheim. Ola Kvernberg and Trondheim’s Symphony Orchestra will also perform the grand premiere of the much-awaited Steamdome III on the Archbishop’s Palace grounds.

In addition to the great music, Olavsfest will also feature diverse markets, discussion platforms, and cultural events. One noticeable guest this year will be Little Amal, a 3.5-metre puppet of a 10-year-old Syrian refugee child. She’s become a global symbol of human rights, especially those of refugees, after having travelled over 9,000 km to 13 countries. Trondheim will be the first Scandinavian city to host her and you’ll have a chance to meet her at Olavsfest!
